Gregory Bovino, a ICE commander who led immigration efforts in Los Angeles over the summer, was spotted on site after a chaotic scene between protesters and guards outside an immigration facility in suburban Broadview Friday.

NBC Chicago photographer George Mycyk captured Bovino standing in front of the facility Friday, flanked by uniformed guards, many of whom had their faces covered or were wearing gas masks . Others appeared to be armed with rubber bullets or paint ball guns.

Bovino, while in uniform, was not wearing a helmet or mask at the time, photos showed.

Earlier this week, Bovino, who identifies himself as a Commander, posted onto social media that he was in town as part of immigration enforcement.
