KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration, better known as TOSHA, is investigating a construction site death in Knoxville. TOSHA’s Assistant Commissioner and Chief Communications Officer Chris Cannon confirmed it Thursday.
It happened on Lovell Road, Cannon said, at a Whaley Construction site Wednesday. Whaley is based in Kodak, and the company’s website says it specializes in grading, storm drainage, bridge construction and similar jobs.
A representative from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said the major crimes unit responded responded to a call that a 24-year-old man had been pinned by an excavator against a rock bucket. The man died at a nearby hospital, KCSO said.
WVLT News has reached out to Whaley Construction, but have not heard back.
