ASHBURN, Va. — Marcus Mariota will start for the Washington Commanders on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, stepping in for Jayden Daniels , who is sidelined with a left knee injury. It will be Mariota’s first start since 2022 with the Atlanta Falcons .
For a third consecutive day, Daniels was unable to practice fully on Friday, and coach Dan Quinn said the reigning AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year won’t play this week.
Quinn said Daniels was limited in practice Friday; the QB was not on the field during the portion of the team’s work that was open to the media.
Daniels sat out practice on Wednesday and Thursday because of the knee and was wearing a brace on his left leg in the locker room. His status for Sunday had been up in the air.
