BRANDON — A local weekly newspaper is ceasing its operations, though scores of citizens turned out for a meeting Thursday to talk about saving it — in one form or another.

Last week, The Reporter, which covers the area around Brandon and Pittsford, announced that its Oct. 1 edition will be its last, at least in its current format. It called on anyone interested in taking over the operation from the small team that’s been running it to step up.
