SACKETS HARBOR, New York (WWNY) - Soldiers jumping from helicopters into Lake Ontario. Unique training right in our own backyard featuring Fort Drum’s 10th Mountain Division.
“The ramp comes down and they give you like 30 seconds, and you’re on the ramp. You can see the water, it’s right there. The spray is coming at you in the face, and you’re just like, ‘I just want to get in that water, let’s go,’” said 1st Lt. Nick Listermann, 41st Engineer Battalion.
Listermann is one of 129 soldiers who took the ten-foot leap from a Chinook helicopter into Lake Ontario.
