NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A Mexican man who last lived in New Haven pleaded guilty in the city’s federal court Friday to trafficking cocaine.

According to a report from the Interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, 50-year-old Martin Onofre-Mendez admitted to selling a large quantity of the drugs.

Statements and documents from court showed that in 2024, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Haven District Office Task Force discovered that Onofre-Mendez was selling drugs out of a New Haven restaurant on Grand Avenue.

Prosecutors said that between May and September 2024, investigators made several controlled purchases of cocaine from Onofre-Mendez. They noted that they bought around 600 grams of cocaine from him.
