CLAYTON, New York (WWNY) - A boat show is causing an international buzz in Clayton.

Renabelle is nearly 85 years old. But looking at her, you probably wouldn’t think it.

“It was all light blue. I had to strip it all and get it stained and separated and painted properly. It’s a job that takes a lot of patience,” said owner Robert Shapton.

He says Renabelle was used during World War II, patrolling domestic waterways, on the lookout for enemy submarines. The numbers on the side are a way for the military to identify the ship.

“When I was refinishing the hull, the numbers appeared; they were still under all the layers of paint, and so those were exactly where the numbers were, same size and same font,” said Shapton.
