As word spread following Wednesday evening’s announcement that the show would be “ pre-empted indefinitely ” over its host’s comments regarding the death of Charlie Kirk —and in the wake of threats from FCC Chair Brendan Carr —everyone from Hollywood power players and entertainment-industry unions to Democratic leaders and free speech organizations have voiced their outrage. Jimmy Kimmel’s fellow late-night hosts have, unsurprisingly, been among his most ardent defenders. While former rivals David Letterman and Jay Leno both went on the record in support of him, every one of his contemporaries addressed the story Thursday night .
