WASHINGTON — Officers will not face charges after a police chase left a 3-year-old bystander dead earlier this year.

The Office of Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced that an investigation into the deadly chase showed officers did not commit a crime under state law.

According to the AG, District Heights Police officers tried to pull a driver over in the 6400 block of Walker Mill Road shortly before 6:30 p.m. on March 7. While the driver initially stopped, he took off during the stop, leaving the officers behind.

A second DHPD officer and Capitol Heights Police officer located the driver and tried to pull him over, but the driver refused to stop.
