CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Sydney Lowdermilk was a top contender, then winner, in the Certified Indiana Bred program.
Winners get to choose a pantry to donate to and she chose the Clay County Emergency Food Pantry. She said the award was unexpected and she is happy to give back to Clay County.
According to Chad Martin, this program seeks out talented and passionate individuals who either show pigs or raise them. "We want to attract them to our industry and find a home of working for the pork industry in the state," said Chad Martin, Director pf Strategic Outreach with Indiana Pork producers. The pantry provides free food and clothing for Clay County and is one of the only pantries that is open five days a week. Food pantry CEO Mike Robinson said this will be huge for the community.
