ATLANTA — A student was injured after a small chemical explosion at a lab at Georgia Tech's Molecular Science and Engineering building on Friday afternoon, according to the university.

University officials stated that the student was being treated for minor burn injuries and taken to Grady Hospital.

Georgia Tech authorities added that the incident was isolated to one lab in the building in the BioQuad area of campus on Atlantic Drive.

The building was evacuated as a precaution, but most employees have since returned to their offices.

Environmental Health and Safety experts are on the scene with the Atlanta Fire and Rescue and Atlanta Police.

It's unclear exactly what chemicals were involved during the time of the explosion, but Atlanta Fire officials said there were no hazmat concerns
