HOUSTON — The Houston Astros just got one big bat back in time for the biggest series of the season. They also lost one.

On Friday, the team activated infielder Isaac Paredes from the 60-day injured list. Paredes last played on July 19 , when he suffered a hamstring injury in a game against the Mariners at Daikin Park. He was put on the injured list and was thought to be out for the season.

But he’s back now as the team gets ready to face Seattle in a three-game weekend set at Daikin Park. The Astros and Mariners are tied atop the American League West with nine games to go.

Paredes is in Friday’s starting lineup as the designated hitter, batting third.

While Houston added Paredes, they lost Yordan Alvarez again. The team placed Alvarez on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle
