KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Fifty-year-old Charles Adair entered the Wyandotte County Detention Center on July 4. One day later, he was dead.
“Anger, madness, really just all over the board," said his older sister, Erica Adair.
Erica now grieves her brother, the youngest son in a home of nine siblings. He was also a father of three.
“He’s that person you want to be around him to uplift your spirits," said Erica.
“Never in a million years would we think not only would he die in custody, but under the circumstances that he did.”
The Wyandotte County District Attorney announced Thursday that Sheriff's Deputy Richard Fatherley is charged with Adair's murder. A coroner's report said Adair died from someone kneeling on his back.
Investigators say Adair was in jail for not appearing on traffic viol
