MANCHESTER, N.H. —

Gov. Kelly Ayotte believes New Hampshire can help lead the way back to a more civil national discourse.

"We can show the nation that yes, we can disagree with each other, we can do it respectfully, we can have open debates, and we don't need violence," Ayotte said.

Ayotte, though, recently faced violent threats.

A 22-year-old Hooksett man was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill the governor , using what he called weapons of mass destruction.
