MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Family, friends and fellow lawmakers gathered at Beman Middle School in Middletown Friday to honor late Connecticut state Rep. Quentin “Q” Williams by dedicating the field there in his honor.
Williams, a Democrat representing Middletown, was killed in a wrong-way crash on Route 9 in Cromwell on Jan. 5, 2023, just hours after being sworn in for his third term. Investigators later confirmed both him and the driver of the other had alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.
Williams was 39 years old at the time of his death.
The ceremony outside the middle school brought together those closest to him, including his mother, Queen Esther Williams, who spoke about her ongoing grief.
