WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives narrowly passed a GOP-led bill Friday to keep the government open at current spending levels for seven more weeks and add more than $80 million in security for leaders across the three branches of government.
Rep. Andy Barr, R-Lexington, supported the measure.
“Our main job is to make sure that we continue the core basic functions of the government, keep our soldiers and sailors and airmen paid, make sure that government services are not interrupted to the American people at the same level, while we continue to work on enacting the reforms, the spending reductions that we need to get our fiscal house in order,” he said.
All Kentucky Republicans in the House backed the bill , except Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Crescent Springs, who called it a copy
