After reviewing more than 150 public submissions, Victoria’s mayor called a recess and set a new date for council to complete the hearing on the city’s proposed 10-year official community plan (OCP) update.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, the City of Victoria’s mayor and council met for the fourth day of the public hearing on the OCP, and hours later decided to call a recess, leaving the deliberation process until Oct. 2.
The updated OCP introduces guidelines for development of land to meet future needs, low-carbon growth, and thoughtful decision-making that protects heritage and ecological assets as well as the walkable neighbourhoods.
The process to update the plan started in the fall of 2023.
