SHREVEPORT, La. -- No bathroom breaks. That’s what some parents - and now two Caddo Parish School Board members - say is happening to middle school students.

At a recent School Board meeting, board member Barry Rachal raised the concern.

“I’ve been getting complaints that students are being told they’re not allowed to go to the bathroom. The short passing periods don’t give them enough time to get from one class to another and still use the restroom,” Rachal said.

Board member Jessica Yeates backed him up, saying it happened to her own child.

“It’s true. It happened to my daughter. She once got two tardies because she didn’t have enough time to change after PE and use the bathroom,” Yeates said.
