WAUPACA, Wis. (WBAY) - A growing demand for emergency medical care is bringing big changes to Waupaca County.
Gold Cross Ambulance is adding a fifth unit to better cover Waupaca and western Outagamie County.
”We always knew that we wanted to get to this point. We knew this region was growing. We knew the demand was going to grow in the next five to six years. So really, it’s been a long-time project,” says Nick Romenesko, the executive director of the Gold Cross Ambulance Service.
Until now, the city of Waupaca has only had one ambulance stationed locally.
If that rig was busy, backup had to come from Greenville, New London, or Weyauwega.
