CLEVELAND, Ohio — In the Guardians clubhouse, there’s a running joke about José Ramírez that perfectly captures his unmatched clutch gene.

When Ramírez steps to the plate in critical moments, the coaching staff has a bit they do. As Joe Noga revealed on the latest Cleveland Baseball Talk Podcast : “When José comes up to the plate in a big moment and big situation manager Stephen Vogt looks to associate manager Craig Albernaz, he looks to the coaches on the bench and he says, he says, ‘Come on, Josey, just once, will you come through for us?’”

The punchline, of course, is that Ramírez almost always delivers.
