Apparently, playing after a short week of practice following a tough loss had no negative effect whatsoever on the Cabrillo football team.

The Conquistadores racked up 513 yards rushing in a 62-7 rout of Taft in a non-league game at Huyck Stadium in Lompoc Thursday. The fourth quarter was played with a running clock.

Three Cabrillo ball carriers ran for more than 100 yards as the Conquistadores quickly put a stinging 49-48 loss against Lompoc in the annual Lompoc Valley Big Game at Huyck the previous Saturday in their collective rear view mirror.

Cabrillo moved to 3-1 and has become eligible for the CIF Central Section playoffs for the second straight season after several down years. The Wildcats are 1-4.
