LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Syrian family who has called Louisville home for the past two years is finally achieving their dream of homeownership.
The couple, parents of four children, will move into a new house in the Smoketown neighborhood thanks to a partnership between Habitat for Humanity and Norton Healthcare.
The family applied to Habitat’s Homeownership Program and were accepted on their first try.
“They have overcome a lot of obstacles,” said Ronald Oliver of Norton Healthcare. “Getting into a Habitat house requires discipline and investment, and they have done their part to secure a home for themselves and their children.”
The family says the home represents stability, independence, and a foundation for their children’s future.
Volunteers from Habitat and Norton will spend the next
