JG wins "general excellence," several 1st places, other awards in statewide journalism contest

INDIANAPOLIS – The Journal Gazette was presented a top award – General Excellence – Friday through the Hoosier State Press Association Foundation.

The recognition was based on the number of awards the newspaper earned for work done during a contest period between April 1, 2024 and March 31. The Journal Gazette competes in Division Four, a category open to all print media organizations statewide with circulations of 6,000 or more.

The Journal Gazette's awards, including seven for first place, three for second, and three for third, reflected work by staff in every newsroom department.
