A woman was restrained with duct tape on an American Airlines flight after she allegedly assaulted a flight attendant. Ketty J. Dilone was arrested on Tuesday following an incident during a flight from the Dominican Republic to Las Vegas, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Nevada.

Dilone reportedly exhibited aggressive behavior, walking down the aisle and yelling while recording the entire aircraft. When flight attendants asked her to stop filming, she became enraged and began to verbally threaten them. The probable cause affidavit noted that she made statements such as, "I will kill you b***h!" and displayed aggressive postures when the crew attempted to calm her.

As her behavior escalated, the cabin crew physically restrained Dilone in her seat using flex cuffs. To further secure her, a flight attendant applied duct tape around her torso. Despite these measures, Dilone managed to kick one of the attendants twice, causing the attendant to fall.

In response to the situation, flight attendants rearranged nearby passengers, moving several away from Dilone and placing volunteers next to her. Law enforcement was waiting when the flight landed, and officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department took Dilone into custody.

The FBI, which handles crimes on U.S. aircraft, charged her with interference with a flight crew and assault by striking, beating, or wounding. Dilone faces one count of interference with a flight crew and one count of assault. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 1. If convicted, she could face up to 20 years in prison.

This incident is part of a larger trend, as the FAA reported 1,154 cases of unruly passengers this year. In 2024, the agency received 2,102 reports, a decrease from the peak of 5,973 in 2021. American Airlines has dealt with similar situations before; in late 2024, passengers restrained a man who attempted to open a cabin door mid-flight using duct tape.
