CORNING, NY (WENY) -- Downtown Corning is ushering in the fall season as the first night of Harvest Festival got underway on Friday.

Corning's Gaffer District was filled with thousands of visitors, along with hundreds of vendors for the annual event, meant as a celebration of the harvest season.

Along with art and food vendors, there are local farmers selling fresh produce, and live music along each block of Market Street. Friday evening, an aerialist also performed for a crowd, dangling above ground from a hoop.

Families downtown Friday night say there are plenty of things to enjoy.

"We are just coming to look around and see what cool activities there is, and it's really fun," said Laveryn, who was enjoying Harvest with her mom.
