It may have taken them a quarter to blow the cobwebs out, but it did little to derail Devonport from claiming back-to-back NWFL colts' premierships.

The Magpies, who went through the season undefeated, went to another level after quarter time of Saturday, September 20's grand final against Penguin, claiming a 9.15 (69) to 2.7 (19) victory.

Magpies' coach Jayden Wicks said there was a sense of relief when the final siren sounded.

"I put a lot of pressure on them, but they're big game players and they've been ready for the moment for a while now, so excited to get it out of the way," Wicks said.

"We knew the work wasn't going to be done in the first quarter, we came prepared for four quarters of footy and we played right to the very end.
