CARBON COUNTY, Mont. – Safety concerns have been raised following a moose attack in Carbon County. According to a report from Red Lodge Fire Rescue, two people were attacked by a moose while walking their dogs.
The incident occurred when the couple encountered a cow, a calf and a bull moose. The cow moose perceived the dogs as a threat and chased them, resulting in injuries to the couple. They were taken to Beartooth Billings Clinic for medical attention.
The National Park Service advises that if you find yourself close to a moose in the wild, try to remain unseen. If the moose notices you, speak softly and walk away slowly. Avoid being aggressive to convince the moose you are not a threat.
