PITTSBURGH -- Near the end of the 2006 regular season, a four-year-old Jacob Wilson , decked out in a Pirates hat and oversized Pirates jersey, stood halfway between the mound and home plate at PNC Park and heaved a ceremonial first pitch to his dad, Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson.

Before the Athletics’ Friday night 4-3 victory over the Pirates , the roles were reversed. Jack took the mound to throw out the first pitch, and on the receiving end of it was Jacob, now an All-Star shortstop for the A’s, creating a full-circle moment 19 years in the making.

“This is a special series,” Jacob said. “Not only for me, but for my family to come back and relive Pittsburgh and PNC Park, where my dad played for so long. We all spent a lot of time here. They’re all excited to be back at PNC again w
