(KRON) — A man suffered significant injuries when he was run over by a firetruck in Richmond around 5:07 a.m. Thursday.
The man was drunk and lying in the driveway of a Richmond Fire Department fire station on the 1100 block of Cutting Boulevard when he was hit, Richmond Police Department Lt. Donald Patchin told KRON4.
"The initial investigation shows that the pedestrian was lying down in the driveway of the fire station," Patchin said. "The roll-up door and the start of the firetruck did not rouse the pedestrian, and due to his location, he was not visible to the driver of the fire apparatus."
The RFD firetruck was responding to an emergency when the man was hit. The driver is not suspected of being under the influence at the time of the crash.
