UPDATE 8:52PM SEPT 19 — The adult black bear spotted in a tree near the intersection of East Lake and Sacramento streets was safely captured Friday evening by game wardens from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, according to Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement.

The bear was drawn into a trap with a rotisserie chicken shortly after 8 p.m. Officials said the animal is now being relocated to its natural habitat.

Sheriff Ed Lester said residents may safely resume normal activities in the area.
