Chalmette won last year’s rivalry game against Holy Cross to snap a six-game series losing streak.
But the Tigers were able to pull away Friday after a long touchdown run by Ke’Rynn Smith in the fourth quarter to give them a 23-6 win against the Owls in a nondistrict game at Tad Gormley Stadium.
Holy Cross (3-0) led Chalmette (1-2) 17-6 midway through the final frame. The Owls drove into Tigers’ territory when Breez Wilson threw an interception to Brandon Green at the 9-yard line on fourth down.
