PINE BLUFF, Ark. — A shocking interaction that started in Jefferson County but ended in Lonoke County, sparking questions and concerns over the constable's role in townships.

According to state law, constables have the same rights and privileges as an elected sheriff. But it’s the other rules that weren’t followed that caused fear and confusion in that pursuit, but what are constables required to do, and what can happen if they don’t follow the laws set forward?

“If we feel an individual who has been victimized or been a victim of an encounter where compliance was not achieved and not follow the letter of the law, certainly we're always willing to sit down.
