ASSAULTED IN BED

Brandon Police Service arrested a man early Thursday morning after a woman said she was assaulted while in bed.

Police responded to the reported assault at around 11:25 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on the 300 block of 17th Street.

The woman told police she was in bed when a man that she knew came into her room and started yelling at her to leave before hitting her in the head several times, BPS said in a news release Thursday.

The woman escaped to the backyard and called 911, police said.

The man fled before police got to the residence, but just over an hour later, they were notified that he had returned and was banging on the door.

Officers went back and arrested a 63-year-old man, who was on an undertaking that included a condition not to attend that residence.
