SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. – A lawsuit against the Sun Prairie School Board questions their use of closed sessions and the transparency of information shared with the public.

Justin Smith, a district father, alleges the board violated Wisconsin's public meeting statute in recent months. The statute mandates public notice of meetings to include time, date, place, and subject matter, even for closed sessions.

Smith criticized the board for lack of specificity, especially during the investigation of former dean Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier , who was arrested on child sex crime charges. Smith said this issue had high public interest as Gilkey-Meisegeier faced charges at both state and federal levels .
