PORTLAND, Ore. — Two people were hospitalized after being shot in a Southeast Portland plaza Friday evening.

Police said that a shooting occurred during a gathering in the area and that two people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A witness told KGW that it occurred during a vigil for the victim of a Thursday shooting near the same spot, adding that he had heard several shots. Several bullet casings were also at the scene.

On Thursday, just after 2 a.m. near Southeast 82nd Avenue and Southeast Harrison Street, police had found one man dead in the parking lot of a nearby bar, with another hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries; police did not identify either person. Later, police arrested 37-year-old Brandon Lewis in connection with the shooting.
