CONCORD TWP. — Every week brings a battle in the Central League, and Garnet Valley’s 19-14 win over Marple Newtown in a slugfest was no exception.
“That’s the Central League. We take pride in this league because you’re going to get the best out of everyone,” Garnet Valley coach Eric Van Wyk said. “Marple brought it tonight. I was proud of our resiliency and how we battled through it. We overcame some momentum swings and it’s a reflection of the guys sticking it out and sticking with each other.”
Garnet Valley (3-2, 3-1 Central) started the game with a 15-play drive capped off by a 30-yard field goal from Owen Zweier. The physical play on the drive set the tone for both teams.
“Credit goes to Garnet Valley, they’re a really good team and a really good program,” Marple Newtown coach Chris
