MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The 13th-ranked West Virginia men’s soccer team opened Sun Belt play with a 2-1 win over James Madison on Friday night at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

Junior Pablo Pozos tallied his Sun Belt-leading seventh goal of the season for the Mountaineers (5-1-1) in the 13th minute. Senior Marcus Caldeira recorded three points on his fifth goal and sixth assist of the year. Caldeira’s goal was scored on a free kick at the 48-minute mark.

JMU (0-5-1) scored its goal on a penalty kick taken by Cameron Arnold in the 67h minute.

The Mountaineers, winners of three straight, had a 17-10 edge in shots, including seven shots on goal to two for James Madison.

WVU welcomes 15th-ranked High Point on Tuesday for its first home match in three weeks.
