UPLAND—Bishop Amat coach Kory Minor is forward-thinking, but he said he’s committed to going back to Amat’s roots in running the ball. The ground game was the program’s hallmark during its successful run in the 1980s and when Minor played in the mid-1990s.

The Lancers now look like the Lancers then. Bishop Amat racked up 308 rushing yards as it cruised to a dominating 32-3 win over Upland in nonleague play on Friday night.

Bishop Amat (3-2) was led by the running back duo of Ryan Salcedo and Justin Clinton. Salcedo rushed for 160 yards on 20 carries and scored three touchdowns while Clinton rushed for 117 yards on 13 carries.

“We’re going to run the ball,” said Minor. “It’s Amat football. That’s what we know.”

Salcedo echoed those sentiments while crediting the offensive line.
