CLEVELAND, Ohio — St. Ignatius broke a lengthy losing streak in dramatic fashion on Friday as Owen Colwell’s 55-yard touchdown run with 2:32 remaining sealed a 45-33 victory over Riverside.

The win ended the Wildcats’ 12-game losing streak dating to last season. Riverside (3-2) suffered its second consecutive close loss after falling 17-14 to Austintown-Fitch last week.

After Riverside got to within 38-33 on Bo Brandehoff’s 22-yard touchdown pass to David Seibert with 2:32 left, the Beavers attempted an onside kick. St. Ignatius’ Jake Bobinski recovered, and it appeared the Wildcats would simply run out the clock.

Instead, Colwell raced 55 yards to the end zone for the game-clinching score. Colwell finished with 112 rushing yards to lead St. Ignatius’ ground attack.
