HARTFORD, Conn. — A Hartford man died following a dirt bike crash Friday evening in Hartford, according to Hartford Police Department.

Hartford Police responded to the area of 474 Cornwall St. around 7:14 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a dirt bike and a tree.

According to police, "The male operator was located suffering from life threatening injuries. The operator was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries."

Police identified the victim as 28-year-old Jayni Powell. According to investigators, Powell was traveling north on Cornwall Street when his dirt bike crossed into the southbound lane and struck a tree.

The crash remains under investigation.
