WEST MADISON — After hanging with undefeated Independence in the first quarter of Friday night's gridiron matchup at Boone Memorial Health Field, things quickly unraveled for the Scott Skyhawks.

The visiting Patriots led by a narrow 3-0 score after one period but erupted for 29 points in the second to put the game away and lead 32-0 at halftime.

Two more trips to the end zone in the third stanza and one late in the fourth followed for Independence, and they improved to 4-0 on the year with a 53-0 victory over Scott.
