North Iowa high school students and the public had the rare chance to attend a live session of the Iowa Court of Appeals Wednesday in Clear Lake.

Attorneys from both sides of two cases presented their arguments in front of the judges, who asked them questions. The court will issue its rulings at a later date.

Before the proceedings began in E.B. Stillman Auditorium, Court of Appeals Judge Samuel Langholz, a 1998 Clear Lake High School graduate who now lives in Ankeny, said, "It is particularly special for me to be back here today on this stage after 27 years."

Since 1998 the Court of Appeals has held sessions around the state in 33 different locations, but this is the first time the judges have heard oral arguments in Cerro Gordo County.
