Florida football and Miami may not face off every single year, but the vitriol between both sides persists.

When the No. 6 Hurricanes (3-0) take on the Gators (1-2) at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 20, from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida , it will mark just the ninth matchup between the rivals since 2000.

Yet when the two teams face off, it does not feel like they are an uncommon opponent for one another. There will be pregame yapping and potential shoves as the two teams exchange pleasantries during warm-ups.

Even if things get heated between the two teams, the hope is that nothing reaches the level of what it did on Dec. 27, 2000, ahead of the Sugar Bowl matchup between the Hurricanes and Gators in New Orleans.
