The Michigan State Spartans (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) and the USC Trojans (3-0, 1-0) meet Saturday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 p.m. ET (FOX). Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's NCAA football odds around the Michigan State vs. USC odds and make our expert college football picks and predictions for the best bets.
The all-time series is tied 4-4, but this is the first meeting since Dec. 31, 1990, in the Sun Bowl. Michigan State won that afternoon 17-16. This is the first regular-season meeting since Sept. 7, 1987, in East Lansing, a 27-13 victory by Sparty. USC hasn't topped Michigan State since Sept. 29, 1978, the last time these teams met at The Coliseum.
Michigan State has won all 3 games to date, but it is 0-3 against the spread (ATS). The Spartans topped Boston College 42-40 in an OT thriller in East Lansing, and followed that up with a 41-24 win over FCS Youngstown State as the Over (55) cashed. QB Aidan Chiles threw for 270 yards and 1 TD, while also leading the team with 76 rushing yards.
USC won its Big Ten opener last week at Purdue, 33-17, but it failed to cover as a 20.5-point favorite as the Under (59.5). It was the first non-cover and first Under result in 3 games. QB Jordan Maiava threw for 282 yards and 0 TDs, while running for a score. WR Ja'Kobi Lane was the receiving leader with 115 yards on 3 receptions, including a 59-yard catch and run.

Michigan State at USC picks and predictions
Prediction
USC 34, Michigan State 20
Moneyline
USC (-1000) will cost you 10 times your potential return, and that's way too expensive, whether you're playing it alone, or as part of a parlay. There is never a reason to play such a heavy favorite, and it is not a recommended long-term betting strategy to risk so much for so little.
PASS.
Against the spread
Back MICHIGAN STATE +19.5 (-110) catching the points. Will the Spartans make a serious bid for the upset in this road game? Probably not. But, this is a giant spread. We saw USC fail to cover against a mediocre Purdue side last weekend, and Chiles and the Spartans are significantly better on offense.

Over/Under
UNDER 55.5 (-115) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.
The Under connected in last week's game for USC in its first matchup against a Power 4 team, Purdue, although the Boilermakers are on the bottom rung among power-conference teams.
For Michigan State, its offense has been lights out, but it has allowed 32.0 points per game to make things close. However, we should see a bit more defense, as both teams are facing the best defense each has seen to date.
