ST. JOSEPH, Minn. — Ben Katzner sat down in a booth at Kay's Kitchen in St. Joseph on Tuesday, Sept. 9, and immediately began to reminisce about going to the diner as a kid.

Katzner recalled how his family would drive over from his hometown of Albany, Minnesota, to go to the restaurant — well known for its breakfast food — that he described as "a better version of Perkins."

The 38-year-old comedian has no problem looking back at his past, even if it can make others squirm when he's talking about it during a stand-up set.

Katzner was adopted as an infant by his Albany family in 1987. When he was 27, he decided to do some research into his past. He was able to find adoption documents to learn more about his biological parents.
