Large crowds gathered outside a busy airport after a security alert sparked an evacuation.

Dublin Airport's Terminal 2 was cleared out 'as a precaution' on Saturday afternoon (September 20).

The airport has since receive the 'all clear', with passengers now able to return and flight operations resuming.

At 1.24pm today, an airport spokesperson said: "Dublin Airport can confirm Terminal 2 has been evacuated as a precaution.

"Passenger and staff safety remains our top priority.

"Flights may face temporary disruption - please check with your airline.

"An Garda Síochána has advised that traffic traffic restrictions are in place on routes approaching Dublin Airport."
