CASS COUNTY, MI — A car caught fire in the 800 block of Carberry Road in Howard Township on Friday, Sept. 19.

A 27-year-old Indiana driver was headed north on Carberry Road when the vehicle left the road, hit a tree and caught fire around 8:50 p.m.

The driver and passenger were both able to exit the vehicle, per a Cass County Sheriff’s Office press release. Both were wearing seatbelts.

The passenger was transported to Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in Niles with non-life threatening injuries.
