KALAMAZOO, MI – As it hit five o’clock on Friday evening, Bob Stewart and his friends were halfway through a Miller High Life.

When they found out that Harvey’s on the Mall was closing, they knew they had to be there for the end.

“Harvey’s has been an institution for our group” Stewart, 46, of Kalamazoo said. “You don’t find too many places like this.”

Ten years ago, Stewart’s friend, Josh, passed away.

“We spent a lot of hours here meeting up with him after work and that’s kind of what brings us back today is to remember those times and spend one last time here,” Stewart said.

Miller High Life was Josh’s drink of choice.

Harvey’s on the Mall is closing its doors on Saturday, Sept. 20.

With the news of its closing, many regulars stopped in to say goodbye.
