A man from Rhode Island will serve up to 10 years in prison for killing two people in a crash on a Massachusetts highway and leaving the scene.
Joseph Pompei , of Cranston, Rhode Island was sentenced in Fall River Superior Court on Friday afternoon to serve six to 10 years in state prison, with five years of probation.
Pompei was convicted of two counts of motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation and one count of leaving the scene of a death that happened in North Attleboro on Aug. 28, 2023.
On that day, Pompei had been speeding in a Buick Sedan on the southbound side of Interstate 95 when he clipped the front right tire of a Cadillac.
This projected the Cadillac across the median and onto the northbound side of the highway, where it collided head-on with a Jaguar. Pompei contin
