SHREVEPORT, La. -- Shreveport police officers responded quickly Friday afternoon to a shots fired call near at Shreveport school -- because they were already there on an unrelated matter.
Officers quickly coordinated with the Caddo Parish sheriff's deputy who was also on the Booker T. Washington High School campus, leading to an immediate lockdown.
Additional units arrived as the officers searched for the source of the ongoing sounds of gunfire.
SPD and CPSO then found two men walking down Looney Street near the school. Two firearms were nearby, close to the path the men had taken, police said.
Officers learned Walter Houston, 34, and Omarion Shepherd, 20, had been shooting guns in the backyard of a house at 2030 Looney Street. The location falls within a firearm-free zone due to its p
